Global Citizenship Award

This wiki has been set up to help us develop ideas for the new Global Citizenship Award that we want to start in August 2008. If you wnat to find out more about the programme then please have a look at the website on http://www.globalcitizensaward.org/.
Four key areas
1. 'Understanding other cultures and outlooks'
Suggestions
a. Mayan and/or Pipil - Panchimalco
b. Palestinian School project (or scienceacross.org), Link with Uk-based school, Link with IGA partner
c. Religions - visit to a synagogue or similiar
d. Race and gender
e. NGO links (local) - a day trip with Habitat for example
f. NGO links (international) - a day/week-end trip to a Guatemalan NGO
g. film night - relevant film shown in ABCLT, eg RabbitFence on Australian Aborginies amongst many different possible examples
h. HMUN participation (could that also include the schools ABCMUN?)
i. United Nations Day at school (re-thought format)
j. Staying with 'host families' (billeting) during foreign sports trips
'2. Personal Global Footprint'
2.1 Being good with money
a. Lights Out Campaign for El Salvador - selling energy efficient light bulbs
b. Fair Trade Stall (Christmas Fayre for example). Locally produced goods
c. Charitable donations - with a clear understanding of where the money is going and how it will be spent.
2.2 Environmental responsibility -

a. Recycling - Can Crusher (school to drop off crushed cans at re-cycling point)
